“Living From God’s Perspective”
We need to cultivate a perspective of life that is in line with how God sees us and our world…
Ephesians 1:17-19a 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. (NIV)
1. The Challenge!
Joshua 6:1-2 1Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.
2 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. (NIV)
“The most important thing that we can do is get a word from God.”
“The trouble we run into is that we tend to listen to everybody but God!”
It’s not a matter whether God is still talking, it’s a matter of whether we are listening…
John 10:27 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (NIV)
2. The Promise!
God said, I have given Jericho into your hands.
“That’s what God said, but that’s not what their circumstances (that they saw before them) were.”
We must reside in what God says (His perspective) before making a determination about our life based on what our present circumstances are!
“Never measure God’s unlimited power by our limited expectations or experiences.”
Joshua 6:2 2 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. (NIV)
“God wants us to see something beyond our natural eyes!”
3. The Breakthrough!
Joshua 6:15-16, 20-21 15 On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. 16 The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! (NIV)
20 When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city. 21 They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it—men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys. (NIV)
When we are willing to wholeheartedly take God at His word and live in that perspective…we will experience “breakthrough!”
Ephesians 3:20-21 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
